SRINAGAR: JKNC President Dr Farooq Abdullah has criticised the BJP for its failure to deliver on promises, accusing the party of focusing on rhetoric while neglecting tangible action. The President of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) voiced these concerns during meetings with delegations from Poonch, Katra, Jammu Rural, and Kathua at his residence in Bathindi, Jammu.

Addressing the deteriorating civic infrastructure in Jammu, Dr Abdullah highlighted the public’s struggles due to the authorities’ lacklustre approach over the past decade. He specifically pointed to the BJP-led Jammu Municipal Corporation’s inability to deliver on its promises, particularly during the last monsoon season, which exposed inadequacies in urban management. He reaffirmed JKNC’s commitment to addressing these challenges and called for party preparations for the upcoming urban local body and Panchayat elections.
Meanwhile, Ajay Kumar Sadhotra, JKNC Additional General Secretary, expressed optimism about the Omar Abdullah-led government ending a decade of administrative inertia in Jammu and Kashmir. At a public meeting in Bhagwati Nagar, Sadhotra criticised the BJP for stalling progress and fostering divisions along religious and regional lines. He condemned the slow implementation of the Smart City Project, which he described as a failure that disillusioned the public.
Senior leaders, including Abdul Gani Malik, cautioned against divisive forces undermining the state’s secular fabric. Reiterating the National Conference’s secular ethos, they urged the public to support the party in steering Jammu and Kashmir towards peace and development.
The event saw enthusiastic participation from a diverse audience, reflecting growing confidence in the leadership of Dr Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah. Party leaders emphasised their dedication to fostering inclusive growth and addressing grievances across the region.
