SRINAGAR: Member of Parliament Asaduddin Owaisi on Saturday said that there is no support left for Pakistan in Kashmir and urged the Government of India to use this moment to connect with the people of the region.
In an interview, Owaisi, who also heads the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), said that after the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, “there was maatam (mourning) in every Kashmiri household.”
He said, “Kashmiris must be given their rights. Students from Kashmir must not be targeted in other parts of the country. All of this must be addressed. We should not miss this chance. Do not leave Kashmiris to their fate. Adopt them.”
Calling the protests after the Pahalgam attack “spontaneous and genuine,” Owaisi said they send a strong message to Pakistan and those involved in terror. “This is a historic opportunity for the government, for Prime Minister Modi, and for Home Minister Amit Shah. They must use it wisely. Yes, confront Pakistan, but also adopt the Kashmiris,” he said.
Owaisi added that Pakistan’s aim has always been to destabilise India. “Since independence, when tribal invaders were sent into Jammu and Kashmir, Pakistan has tried to create unrest and deepen communal divisions. It is part of their strategy to stop India’s growth,” he said.
“You cannot trust Pakistan while its military, ISI, and deep state continue to follow this agenda,” he added. (KNO)
