SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir National Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to intervene with Saudi authorities to address the cancellation of private Hajj quota slots, affecting over 52,000 Indian pilgrims.
In a statement issued from the party headquarters, Nawa-e-Subha, Dr Abdullah expressed concern over the uncertainty faced by pilgrims who have already paid for the pilgrimage under the private Hajj quota.
He called for diplomatic engagement to resolve the matter at the earliest.
“It is imperative that the Hon’ble Prime Minister intervenes and takes proactive steps through diplomatic channels to resolve this issue and safeguard the interests of all affected pilgrims,” the statement read.
Dr Abdullah said immediate action is required to prevent further distress to those preparing for the pilgrimage this year.
