Terming proposed fencing of LoC as game plan of Indian authorities, Hurriyat Conference (G) on Wednesday said that it will vehemently oppose any such move

“We will organize protests and impress the international community to take cognizance of any such move aimed to alter or maintain a statuesque,” read the statement of Hurriyat released on Wednesday.

Spokesman of the conglomerate , Ayaz Akbar, said that a meeting of executive council of Hurriyat Conference was held at Hyderpora chaired by general secretary,  Ghulma Nabi Sumji, in which all the constituent s of Hurriyat participated.
During the meeting it was declared that the said step aims at to affect the disputed nature of the Kashmir issue and maintain statuesque.

“It is a sinister move and India is bent upon to exceed the international agreements and directions of international bodies with regards to the present geographical status and seize fire between India and Pakistan,” the spokesman said.
In an appeal to international community, the executive council said, “We appeal to international community to intervene the fencing proposal of India and restrain India from any such move.”

During the meeting, members raised questions about the stand of Pakistan with regard to Kashmir and has asked leadership of Pakistan to clear its stand.

“Pakistan should clear its stand over Kashmir issue. If it has not changed its stand, then should raise voice against the fencing,” said the statement.

According to the statement, the members resolved to oppose the move and make people aware in both parts of disputed territory.

The constituent members also stated that India and Pakistan are free to improve and extend  their mutual trade but any solution  or  agreement contrary to the aspirations of the people will meet the same fate as that of Shimla and Tashqand agreements.

The meeting was concluded by paying tributes to militants killed in Sopore, “stubborn approach adopted by India has resulted in the human loss in this disputed territory  and  India by dint of might want to continue its illegal occupation and it that  in  response the students  of institutions lay their blood  to achieve the freedom from clutches of India,” the spokesman said.

A day after blocked due to major landslides in Ramban district, the 300 Km long Jammu – Srinagar national highway reopened for vehicular traffic on Wednesday.

“The highway has been reopened for vehicular traffic after clearance of the landslide today,” police said.

However, no traffic from Jammu and Srinagar cities would be allowed from two sides till all stranded vehicles would be cleared of the highway.

The 300-km-long highway, which is the only surface link between Kashmir and rest of the country, got blocked due to a major landslide triggered by rains at Seri belt of Ramban district last evening.

Due to the landslide, over 900 vehicles have got stranded on the two sides of highway at several places; he said adding that they are being cleared.

Border Roads Organisation (BRO), which maintains the national highway, had pressed into services its men and machines and cleared the landslide this morning restoring vehicular traffic on the highway.

There was one-way traffic on the highway for past three days following reopening of the highway on December 16 after three days of closure due to heavy snowfall.
