The project will be developed by Mussoorie Sky Car Private Limited, a consortium comprising FIL Industries Pvt. Ltd., POMA SAS, and SRM Engineering LLP. Once operational, it will be the longest ropeway of its kind in South Asia, marking a transformative step in India’s green infrastructure and tourism landscape.

“Through world-class projects like this, our goal is to place India firmly on the global map as a hub for an advanced, fast, safe, and eco-friendly ropeway system,” said Syed Junaid Altaf, Group Executive Director of FIL Industries.

FIL Industries is India’s largest CEN-certified ropeway operator, known for its landmark project, Skyview by Empyrean in Sanget–Patnitop, Jammu and Kashmir. The company has earned acclaim for blending tourism with sustainable mobility, and its new venture reaffirms its leadership in the field.

The ropeway system will ascend 1,000 metres and use European-standard safety and engineering systems, with a substantial portion of the equipment to be manufactured locally through POMA India.

POMA SAS, a global leader in cable transport, will act as the project’s technical partner and strategic supplier. For POMA, this marks its first concession investment in India.

SRM Engineering LLP, backed by the promoters of Rahman Group and Hindustan Dock Yard Pvt. Ltd., brings extensive experience in infrastructure development and financial management across India, France, the UAE, and South Africa.

The formal launch of the project took place at INTERALPIN 2025 in Innsbruck, Austria, a leading international trade fair for alpine technologies. There, the consortium partners officially initiated construction and presented the project to global stakeholders.

Beyond Mussoorie, the consortium has also won the contract for the Yamunotri Ropeway Project, a 3.8-kilometre route connecting Yamunotri and Kharsali in Uttarakhand. This system aims to ease pilgrim access to one of India’s most revered religious destinations.
