Minister for Tourism, Ghulam Ahmad Mir inaugurated 10th Medical Conference on Executive Management of Hospitals here at last evening organized by All India Institute of Medical Sciences first time in the Kashmir Valley.
During 6-day long Conference 70 Doctors including HOD’s of various Departments in Government Sector as well as Directors of private hospitals from India and abroad are expected to participate in the Conference and deliberate on the abundant health tourism potential of the State especially in Kashmir valley due to its rich environs and breath taking resorts
As per a statement the Doctors from UK, USA, South Africa, Bangladesh, Mauritius, and Sri Lanka are amongst the participants. Besides the academic sessions the Doctors will be taken on FAM Tours to Tourist Resorts of the valley to showcase tourism potential and its relevance to the health tourism sector.
Speaking at the inaugural session of the conference, the Tourism Minister said that in Jammu and Kashmir health tourism was emerging as important sector, owing to J&Ks skilled healthcare professionals and the lower cost of healthcare facilities in the State. He has said, “Wellness tourism is regarded as a sub-segment of medical tourism and it involves the promotion and maintenance of good health.”
The Minister has said that the State with its widespread use of Ayurveda, Yoga, Siddha and Naturopathy, complemented by its spiritual philosophy, is a well-known destination for tourists of other countries as a health resort.
Mir has said Kashmir is well known for its hot springs, herbs grown in Himalayas, organic food and Horticulture besides hospitality. He said the Valley always welcomes all the visitors with its charming, meadows flowers, streams, springs and smile on the faces of the locals.
Tourism Minister has said that due to the resilience of the people of the State tourism in J&K is flourishing at a brisk pace. He said the State government have upgraded world standard tourist infrastructure at different resorts for the tourists and people are world known for hospitality.
