Speaking to reporters, Omar said that militancy and law and order are not solely the domain of the elected government, but the government is providing support to ensure that the situation remains peaceful and under control.

“I have repeatedly said that without the involvement of the people, militancy cannot be uprooted,” he said.

He said that security forces have not established contact with militants in Kathua.

“As far as my information is concerned, no contact has been established. A search and cordon operation has been launched following reports of suspicious movement in the area,” he said.

Responding to a question about the Waqf Bill introduced by the Union Government, Omar said that Waqf institutions are being selectively targeted.

“It is evident that only one religion is being targeted. Religious institutions exist in every faith. There is no religion that does not have its institutions or engage in charitable activities.

Muslims conduct charitable activities through Waqf, but it is being selectively targeted,” Omar said. (KNO)
