Four Drug Peddlers Arrested in Kashmir, Vehicles Seized

   

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir police arrested four alleged drug peddlers in Baramulla and Srinagar and recovered contraband substances from their possession.

“In Baramulla, a police team led by the SHO of Police Station Sheeri intercepted an individual at a checkpoint set up at the Forest Checkpost NHW Gantamulla Payeen. Upon search, 50 grams of a charas-like substance was recovered. The individual was identified as Usama bin Ramzan, son of Mohammad Ramzan Lone, a resident of Fatehgarh,” police said.

In a separate operation, a team from Police Station Baramulla, headed by the SHO, intercepted a two-wheeler (Scooty) at checkpoint in Kralhar. “A search of the rider led to the recovery of 30 grams of a heroin-like substance. The rider was identified as Bashir Ahmad Bhat, son of Haji Ghulam Qadir Bhat, a resident of Umar Colony, Ushkara Baramulla,” police said.

“Police Post Palhallan responded to a road accident involving a Xylo vehicle (registration number UK07AQ-3700), travelling from Srinagar to Baramulla. The accident occurred near Sadderbal, in the vicinity of MM Hospital. The driver, identified as Amir Khan, son of Mehboob Khan, a resident of Bagatpora, Handwara, was injured and taken to hospital. During a search, 2.5 grams of a heroin-like substance were recovered from his possession,”  reads the statement.

In Srinagar, a police team on duty at Bemina Chowk noticed a suspicious individual who attempted to flee when asked to stop. “He was apprehended, and during the search, a substantial quantity of a charas-like substance, a mobile phone, and Rs 19,600 in cash were recovered. He was identified as Manzoor Ahmad Dar, son of Mohammad Sultan Dar, a resident of Chandil Wanigam, Tangmarg,” police said.

All four accused have been arrested and remain in custody at their respective police stations. The vehicles involved in the incidents have also been seized. Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered, and further investigations are underway.
