Four Kashmir Teachers Selected for National School Leadership Conference in Delhi

   

SRINAGAR: The National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration has said that four school heads from Jammu and Kashmir have been selected to participate in a national conference on school leadership to be held in New Delhi later this month.

In a communication issued by Professor Shashikala Wanjari, Vice-Chancellor of NIEPA and Head of its National Centre for School Leadership, the institute said that the selected school heads will take part in the National Conference on “Successful School Leadership: Innovative Pathways for Viksit Bharat@2047”, scheduled from January 17 to 19, 2026, at the India International Centre.

According to NIEPA, the conference is part of its ongoing “Celebrating School Leadership” initiative, under which school heads from government and government-aided schools across the country were invited to submit case studies and video documentaries showcasing innovative leadership practices. The institute said it received over 300 entries nationwide, of which 55 were selected through a rigorous evaluation process.

From Jammu and Kashmir, the selected participants are Javid Ahmad Bhat, Head Teacher at Government Girls Middle School, Onagam in Bandipora; Mushtaq Ahmad Sheikh, Principal of PM SHRI Higher Secondary School, Dragger in Budgam; Mushtaq Ahmad Wani, Principal of Government Boys’ Higher Secondary School, Beerwah in Budgam; and Syed Istiyaq Ahmad, Principal of Government Higher Secondary School, Hawal in Pulwama.

NIEPA has said that the selected school heads will be invited to present and share their leadership experiences and best practices during the three-day conference, which aims to highlight innovative pathways in school leadership aligned with India’s long-term development vision for 2047.

The institute has further said that it will bear the travel, boarding and lodging expenses of the nominated participants as per its norms. It has advised the participants to arrive in New Delhi by January 16 and plan their return after the conclusion of the conference on the evening of January 19.

NIEPA, a deemed-to-be university under the Ministry of Education, Government of India, said the National Centre for School Leadership continues to function as a specialised institution focused on the professional development of school heads and educational administrators across the country through conferences, seminars and capacity-building programmes
