SRINAGAR: The Ganesh Chaturthi festivities, also known as Vinayak Chaturthi, concluded with vibrant celebrations across Srinagar and South Kashmir.
This year’s celebrations, which began on August 7, were marked by religious ceremonies and community events hosted by the Siddhivinayak Ganpatyar Mandir in Srinagar and the Vessu KP Colony in Anantnag.
The five-day festival culminated with the Ganesh Visarjan (immersion ceremony). The Visarjan was marked by two grand processions: one from the Ganpatyar Mandir in Srinagar to the Jhelum River at Haba Kadal, and another from Vessu KP Colony to the Sangam in Anantnag, covering an 11 km route. Both processions were celebrated with great enthusiasm, accompanied by music and prayers from the local community.
A notable aspect of the festival, Pann Pooza, featured the preparation of sweet bread as an offering to Lord Ganesha, symbolising unity and communal harmony.
These events were supported by the Shri Bausaheb Rangari Trust from Pune, led by Shri Punit Balan. Emphasising environmental responsibility, eco-friendly Ganesha idols were provided for the celebrations in the Kashmir Valley.
