Chairman Hurriyat Conference (g) Syed Ali Geelani continues to remain under the house arrest on 18 September and today he was again stopped from offering his Friday congregational prayers, his party said.

While terming the government policies as lawlessness, Hurriyat (g) spokesperson condemned it in strong words and said, “since the Mufti Mohammad Sayeed came into power, Syed Ali Geelani was not allowed to come out of his house for even a single day. And his political, social, religious and even his personal activities have been completely banned.”

According to the Hurriyat statement, “on Friday government deployed more police force around the house of Syed Ali Geelani and the lane leading to his residence from the airport road has also been blocked by the police.”

While terming the statement of Mufti Sayeed that no bullets were fired and police did no excesses with the stone pelters in his 7 months rule as ridiculous, Hurriyat (g) alleged, “since the inception of the PDP-BJP government in Jammu & Kashmir, the human rights violations have increased to alarming level.”

“Five innocent civilian were killed by the police, pellet guns left 28 youths disabled for their entire life and hundreds of other youths have been arrested and put to worst kind of custodial torture in the police stations and interrogation centers during this seven months rule,” he said.

During this period the political activities of Syed Ali Geelani have been completely banned and he has been confined to the four walls of his house, the statement said.

Hurriyat Conference (g) appealed Amnesty International and other human rights organizations to take serious notice of the house arrest process of the pro-freedom leader Syed Ali Geelani and use their influence in his release.

Meanwhile strongly condemning the arrest of Dukhtaran-i-Millat Chief Muhtarmah Asiya Andrabi and Tehreek-e-Hurriyat district president Islamabad Mir Hafizullah by the police, Geelani demanded their immediate release.

In a statement, he said, “the state government is at war with the pro-freedom people of the state and their “Battle of Ideas” and “Goli Nahi Boli” like slogans have proven to be fraud.”

While terming the registration of FIR against Asiya Andrabi as “unjustified”, Geelani said, “every Kashmiri loves Pakistan and if waving of flag of this country is a crime then they have to detain whole Kashmiri nation for this crime.”

He said that the woman leader is suffering from different ailments and detaining her in the police station is very dangerous for her health. She should be immediately released and the FIR against her should be taken back.

Syed Ali Geelani also strongly condemned the arrest of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat leader Mir Hafizullah and said that he is often detained by the police.
