SRINAGAR: Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary has informed the House that a Detailed Project Report (DPR) worth Rs 18.11 crore has been framed for the upgradation of the 16.20 km Sangrama-Sopore-Sagipora road, which is currently under consideration for sanction under NABARD’s Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF).
Responding to a question raised by Mir Mohammad Fayaz in the Legislative Assembly, Choudhary stated that 11.50 km of road from Kulangam to Zandri Mode has been blacktopped under the Cities and Towns programme during the 2024-25 financial year.
He further clarified that the Kulangam-Kupwara road is managed by BEACON and is currently undergoing upgradation to a two-lane configuration with paved shoulders. Meanwhile, the Sangrama-Kulangam road via Sopore is maintained by the Public Works Department (PWD), but there are no current plans for its upgradation.
The Deputy CM also confirmed that no DPR has been prepared for the four-laning of the Sangrama-Kulangam road. The response came after legislators Mir Saifullah and Qaisar Jamsheed Lone raised supplementary queries on the issue.
