This decision, made with passenger safety in mind, comes just days after the service commenced on July 2nd

On Monday, militants attacked the Indian Army in Doda, resulting in the tragic death of four soldiers. In response to escalating security concerns, the Himachal Pradesh Police and Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) have heightened vigilance, establishing checkpoints along the 216 km border shared between Chamba and Doda.

Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order), Abhishek Trivedi, emphasized coordination with central agencies, the Indian Army, and Jammu and Kashmir Police to ensure proactive measures are in place.

Local residents, including shepherds who traverse between Chamba and Doda, have been urged to remain cautious. Despite receiving intelligence inputs, officials refrained from disclosing specifics about suspected militant movements in Himachal Pradesh.

An official from the Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) noted that the decision to suspend the Chamba-Doda bus service was prompted by safety considerations.

Normally departing daily from Chamba at 6:30 am, the bus halts overnight in Doda before returning the following morning. Service will only resume once the security situation stabilizes in Doda district.
