Jammu and Kashmir Sees Temperature Dip, Moderate to Heavy Rains Forecasted

   

SRINAGAR: After recording consecutive hottest July days, Srinagar, and other parts of the Valley breathed a sigh of relief on Friday as temperatures dipped slightly, ending the four-day heat wave.

Srinagar recorded a maximum temperature of 34.2 degrees Celsius, 1.5 degrees Celsius lower than the previous day.

Qazigund, the gateway to Kashmir, recorded a maximum temperature of 32.0 degrees Celsius, while Pahalgam, a famous destination, recorded 26.3 degrees Celsius.

The temperature in Kupwara settled at 32.8 degrees Celsius, while Kokernag and Gulmarg, a famous ski resort, recorded maximum temperatures of 30.9 degrees Celsius and 23.4 degrees Celsius, respectively.

In the Jammu division, most stations recorded temperatures above 30 degrees Celsius. Jammu recorded a day temperature of 34.3 degrees Celsius today, while Banihal recorded a maximum temperature of 30.4 degrees Celsius.

Batote, Katra, and Bhaderwah recorded maximum temperatures of 26.8 degrees Celsius, 30.7 degrees Celsius, and 31.1 degrees Celsius, respectively.

Meanwhile, the weatherman has predicted intermittent rainfall at most places in Jammu and Kashmir till tomorrow.

“There is a possibility of intermittent moderate rainfall at most places of JK with heavy showers at a few places till tomorrow,” the official said.

On July 07, intermittent spells of light to moderate rain and thundershowers are expected at many places. From July 08 to July 10, hot and humid weather with the possibility of brief spells of rain and thundershowers is expected at scattered places in the Jammu division late at night and early morning, and spells of rain and thundershowers at a few places in Kashmir.

On July 11 and 12, a spell of light to moderate rain and thundershowers is expected at scattered places.

Moreover, the local Meteorological Department in its advisory mentioned that flash floods, landslides, mudslides, and shooting stones are possible at a few vulnerable places till tomorrow.

“Few low-lying areas may experience temporary water-logging conditions,” it read, adding that a few places may experience moderate thunderstorms and lightning—(KNO)
