Jammu and Kashmir’s progress in implementing smart classrooms places it among the regions actively embracing educational technology. For context, Uttar Pradesh has the highest number of smart classrooms at 27,806, followed by Rajasthan with 13,057 and Chhattisgarh with 10,439. The total number of smart classrooms in Jammu and Kashmir stands at 3,427.

Recent efforts include the inauguration of smart classrooms in 12 government schools in Poonch district by Deputy Commissioner Yasin M Choudhary in February 2024. Additionally, the Tribal Affairs Department has provided 200 smart classrooms over the past two years to improve educational access for tribal communities.

Despite these advancements, challenges remain, including network connectivity issues, maintenance of digital infrastructure, and the need for ongoing teacher training. The success of the smart classroom initiative will depend on addressing these obstacles to ensure sustained and equitable access to digital education.
