Among the cases, four bail pleas filed by accused persons in a case registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and the Arms Act were dismissed by the Additional Sessions Judge, Samba, Arvind Sharma, on October 14.

The applications pertained to Sourab Baloria, Vivek Kumar, Jugdeep Kour and Manmohit Singh in FIR No. 146/2026 registered at Vijaypur Police Station. Additional Public Prosecutor Kuldeep Bhat opposed the pleas, alleging that the accused were part of an organised network involved in narcotics smuggling and the supply of weapons.

The prosecution also referred to alleged links with Canada, the United States and other Western countries, citing concerns over national security and public safety. The court rejected the applications, taking into account the seriousness of the allegations and the ongoing investigation into the suspected wider network, the department said.

On October 13, the 1st Additional Sessions Judge, Jammu, Amarjeet Singh Langeh, dealt with four anticipatory bail applications relating to cases registered at Bahu Fort, Miran Sahib and Bakshi Nagar police stations. Additional Public Prosecutor Sarfraz Ahmed represented the Union Territory.

Three applications were dismissed as not maintainable for not complying with High Court Notification No. 1399 of 2026/RG, dated July 2, 2026. The fourth application was dismissed as withdrawn after the petitioners sought permission to file a fresh plea.

On October 12, the 2nd Additional Munsiff, Jammu, Isha Jerath, rejected the bail application of Bhader Ali in FIR No. 172/2026 registered at Janipur Police Station under Sections 331(3), 305, 317(5) and 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Assistant Public Prosecutor Neha Sharma opposed the application, arguing that the accused had failed to disclose his criminal antecedents in an affidavit. She cited Rule 176-A of the Jammu and Kashmir High Court Rules, 1999, and a Supreme Court ruling in the Zeba Khan case. The prosecution also submitted that Ali was involved in eight FIRs and that the recovery of gold ornaments and cash remained pending.

Earlier, on October 8, Chief Judicial Magistrate, Samba, Smriti Sharma, rejected a bail application in FIR No. 85/2024 registered under Sections 331(3) and 305(a) of the BNS.

Assistant Public Prosecutor Megha Rani argued that the accused had 10 other pending FIRs and that his alleged involvement in similar offences despite being released on bail in previous cases raised concerns about the likelihood of reoffending and compliance with bail conditions. The court dismissed the plea after considering the prosecution’s objections and the accused’s criminal antecedents, according to the department.

In its statement, the Prosecution Department credited the outcomes to prosecutors’ preparation and arguments based on relevant legal provisions and Supreme Court precedents, reiterating its commitment to professional conduct and the rule of law.
