SRINAGAR: The regional administration has approved a long-pending proposal to fill chronic vacancies in teaching roles, beginning with 575 new lecturer positions in the School Education Department. The move aims to provide crucial employment opportunities for local youth, aligning with the administration’s commitment to enhance education and employment in the region.
The announcement was made by Sakina Itoo, who posted on X (formerly Twitter), confirming that this decision is part of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s broader initiative to create jobs for Jammu and Kashmir’s young population. “We have started to fulfil the promise of Hon’ble CM Jb @OmarAbdullah Sb with regard to providing jobs to unemployed youth of J&K,” Itoo shared in her post, highlighting the extensive steps being taken to improve the employment landscape for qualified candidates in the region.
These lecturer positions will soon be referred to the Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) for advertisement and recruitment. This marks the beginning of a large-scale hiring process that is expected to invigorate the local education sector, address long-standing staffing shortages, and contribute to improved educational standards across various academic streams in Jammu and Kashmir.
