A Division Bench of Justices Sanjeev Kumar and Mohd Yousuf Wani passed the interim directions on November 2 while hearing a petition filed by the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and others against the foundation and another respondent.

The court clarified that students enrolled in the school on the date the challenged order was issued must not be disturbed. It directed the petitioners to ensure that their education was not adversely affected in any manner.

The interim stay has been granted subject to the respondents’ objections and will remain in force until the next date of hearing.

The Bench also made it clear that the trial court should continue examining the issues raised before it and decide the main petition on its merits, notwithstanding the proceedings before the High Court.

The respondents were granted four weeks to file their objections. Their counsel, advocate Razia Amin, waived formal notice on their behalf after senior advocate Z. A. Qureshi appeared in the matter. The court consequently discharged the caveat.

The Union Territory was represented by Senior Additional Advocate General Mohsin S. Qadri, assisted by counsel Maha Majeed, while the respondents were represented by senior advocate Z. A. Qureshi, assisted by advocate Razia Amin.

The matter has been listed for further hearing on February 1, 2027.
