Jammu Kashmir Linked to Nationwide Drug Syndicate Uncovered by Delhi Police

SRINAGAR: A major narcotic syndicate with operations extending to Jammu and Kashmir has been dismantled by the Delhi Police’s Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF). The operation led to the arrest of four key operatives and the seizure of banned drugs worth Rs 1 crore, including Tramadol tablets and Pentazocine injections, according to reports appearing in media in Delhi.

The arrested individuals were identified as Chandan Kumar Rout, Arvind Singh, Parshuram, and Sushant Garg, all playing crucial roles in the syndicate. The narcotics, sourced from suppliers in Uttar Pradesh and Haryana, were distributed across several regions, including Jammu and Kashmir.

According to the police, Sushant Garg, a pharmacy owner in Lajpat Nagar and a BPharma graduate, was instrumental in supplying drugs to Jammu and Kashmir and even to Afghanistan. Garg repackaged banned substances, including Tramadol tablets and Codeine syrup, for bulk distribution through delivery services.

The first breakthrough came on October 27 with the arrest of Rout in Delhi’s Mehrauli-Badarpur area. Rout, originally from Bihar, was found with 6.7 kg of Tramadol tablets, a commercial quantity under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. His interrogation revealed connections to Arvind Singh, a pharmaceutical distributor operating under the name Shiva Pharma in Delhi’s Okhla Industrial Area. Singh was arrested on October 28 and admitted to sourcing contraband from multiple suppliers.

Further investigations uncovered Parshuram, who acted as a middleman supplying drugs to illegal dealers. Narcotics, including 1,935 Tramadol tablets and 62 Pentazocine ampules, were seized from his residence in Ekta Vihar during his arrest on November 6.

The syndicate’s financial trail revealed four properties worth Rs 4 crore, suspected to be funded by the illegal drug trade, currently under investigation.

This crackdown highlights the growing menace of drug trafficking in Jammu and Kashmir, a region increasingly targeted by syndicates due to its strategic location and demand. Authorities are intensifying efforts to dismantle these networks and curb the flow of narcotics into the Union Territory
