Jammu Kashmir Police Intensifies Crackdown on Drug Trafficking, Properties Worth Rs 4.3 Crore Attached

   

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police has escalated its efforts against drug trafficking, with significant action taken in Anantnag. In a recent operation, police attached five residential houses and three vehicles under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, valued at Rs 4.3 crore. The attached properties are linked to various drug-related offences.

Among the properties seized are a single-storied house of Reyaz Ahmad Dar from Hassanpora Tawella, linked to several NDPS cases, and a double-storied house of Mohammad Yousuf Reshi from Bijbehara, involved in a major narcotics recovery case. Additionally, the police have attached the house of Subzar Ahmad Mir, another resident of Hassanpora Tawella, and the property of Mohammad Shafi Dar from Tulkhan Bijbehara, both connected to NDPS activities. A property valued at Rs 30 lakh owned by habitual offender Abdul Hamid Chopan from Malpora Ranipora was also attached by Achabal Police.

The vehicles seized include a Santro car owned by Mohammad Shafi Dar, a WagonR registered to Manzoor Ahmad Mantoo of Waghama Bijbehara, and a Toyota Corolla belonging to Rahul Singh from New Delhi.

These proactive measures reflect the JK Police’s commitment to dismantling drug trafficking networks and ensuring that offenders face severe legal consequences. By targeting the assets and properties of those involved, the police aim to disrupt the financial foundations of these illegal activities. The J&K Police is steadfast in its mission to create a drug-free society and has urged public cooperation in their efforts.

In a continued drive to combat the drug menace, police have arrested four drug peddlers in Srinagar and Awantipora, recovering substantial quantities of contraband substances. During a routine checkpoint at Malkha Chowk, Nowhatta, a police party intercepted a suspicious individual, identified as Sajad Sheikh of Sheikh Colony, Hawal. A search led to the recovery of 3.370 kilograms of charas powder-like substance and 20 grams of charas, resulting in his arrest.

Meanwhile, in Awantipora, police apprehended three individuals at a checkpoint in Hatiwara, identified as Danish Rasheed Bhat, Danish Ashraf Dar, and Umer Rasool Dar, all residents of Lethpora. A search revealed 65 grams of charas-like substance, and they were arrested accordingly.

Cases have been registered at the respective police stations, and investigations are ongoing. Police have urged the public to report any drug-related activities or crimes, ensuring swift action against perpetrators. The police reaffirm their determination to act firmly against criminals by the law.
