SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir recorded 50 fresh dengue infections on Saturday, pushing the cumulative tally for 2025 to 970, official data show.
Health officials said 392 tests were conducted during the day, of which 30 men and 20 women tested positive. Seven of the new cases were children under 18 years of age, while the remaining 43 were adults.
Jammu district continued to account for the highest share, reporting 23 new cases and taking its overall total this year to 394. Kathua followed with 19 fresh infections, raising its tally to 275. Udhampur and Samba reported two cases each, while one case each was logged from Reasi, Rajouri, and Kashmir. One infection was traced to an individual from another State.
Since January, 14,152 dengue tests have been conducted across Jammu and Kashmir, yielding 970 positives. By the same date in 2024, 13,109 tests had been carried out, resulting in 1,598 cases. Health authorities noted that the comparative figures point to a lower positivity rate this year.
Clinically, the situation remains stable. No fresh hospital admissions were reported on Saturday, although seven patients are currently under treatment. Since January, 31 patients have required hospitalisation.
Health officials said they continue to monitor the situation closely, with vector-control drives and awareness campaigns being maintained in high-burden districts.
