Taking to X, Goyal expressed enthusiasm for the development, saying, “So much to cheer. The first commercial consignment of premium cherries from Jammu and Kashmir heads to Saudi Arabia and the UAE.” He added that this opens a “huge market” for cherry farmers, enabling them to secure better prices.
The minister underlined the Prime Minister’s “Vocal for Local” initiative, citing ongoing efforts by the Central government to bridge logistical gaps and position India as a leading global supplier of premium agricultural products.
This export move follows a prior success in April involving the first sea shipment of 14 tonnes of Bhagwa pomegranates from Maharashtra to New York, which gained positive international reception.
