SRINAGAR: More than 1.52 lakh students across Jammu and Kashmir are set to appear in the forthcoming annual regular examinations for classes 11 and 12, beginning November 19 and November 8 respectively. The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has announced that around 81,000 students from class 11 and 71,000 from class 12—belonging to the Kashmir Division, winter zone areas of Jammu Division, and District Kargil—will take the exams, which the government has restored to the traditional October–November session.
According to the date sheet issued by the Board, the class 12 examinations will start on November 8, followed by class 11 on November 19, with both likely to conclude by the second week of December.
Acknowledging the disruptions in the academic calendar caused by torrential rains, cloudbursts, and floods, the JKBOSE has announced a 15 per cent concession in syllabus coverage, meaning students attempting 85 per cent of the paper will be evaluated out of 100 marks.
The Board has advised students to prepare seriously for the examinations and assured that all arrangements will adhere to the highest standards of transparency and fairness. It has directed the invigilatory staff to maintain professionalism to uphold the integrity of the examination process, while also seeking full cooperation from the district administration, police, and the School Education Department to ensure smooth and orderly conduct.
Students, parents, and stakeholders have been urged to refer to the official JKBOSE website for authentic date sheets and clarification on the concession policy to avoid being misled by unofficial or misinterpreted information.
