SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Mechanical Engineering Graduates Association (JKMEGA) unveiled its Annual Wall Calendar for the year 2024 at a grand event held on February 17, 2024.

The event took place at the Mechanical and Hospital Engineering Department, Kashmir Complex Shalteng, Srinagar, and saw a significant turnout of engineers, including Chief Engineers, Superintending Engineers, Executive Engineers, and other esteemed professionals serving in different departments of Jammu and Kashmir.

Bhupinder Kumar (IAS), Commissioner/Secretary to the Government, Public Works Department, Jammu Kashmir, was the Chief Guest on the occasion.

Er Ganga Jyoti, Chief Engineer, M&HD Jammu, attended as the Guest of Honor. Er Iftekhar Hakeem, Chief Town Planner, Er Raheela Wani, Chief Engineer KPDCL, and Er Shafaat Ahmad Jeelani (Rtd) graced the occasion as Special Guests.

In his address,  Chief Guest commended JKMEGA for its pivotal role in supporting the administration in addressing the legitimate demands of Mechanical Engineers within the government sector in the Union Territory of Jammu  Kashmir. An engaging interactive session followed the formal proceedings.

Er Firdous Ahad Bhat, President of JKMEGA, articulated various concerns related to the broader engineering community and specifically to Mechanical engineers in Jammu and Kashmir.

He urged the administration to address these concerns, emphasising the need for improved public service delivery. Regarding the recent restructuring of the Public Works Department, he called for the formulation of clear standard operating procedures to ensure clarity of roles and responsibilities at all levels, thereby minimising confusion resulting from the recent merger.

He further extended appreciation for the Administration’s efforts in eliminating Adhocism, noting the progress achieved to date. However, he underscored that there is still work ahead to fully uproot the menace of Adhocism within the Mechanical engineering community in Jammu Kashmir.

Expressing gratitude, Er Firdous Ahad Bhat acknowledged the concerted efforts of the Guidance Council, Executive Council, Zonal Committees, and all members of JKMEGA. He emphasised that initiatives like the publication of calendars symbolize collaborative endeavors to connect with the dedicated members of JKMEGA, who tirelessly contribute to the overall development of the nation.

The successful event was a testament to the commitment and collective efforts of JKMEGA in fostering professional development and addressing the concerns of Mechanical Engineers in the region.
