SRINAGAR: Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) has announced that admission tests scheduled for May 10 and 11, 2025 will be rescheduled specifically for students Jammu and Kashmir, while the rest of the candidates will appear for the exams as originally planned.
In an official statement, the university stated that the decision has been taken “considering the ongoing situation and factoring in the well-being of students.”
The entrance tests for the 2025–26 academic session, which began on April 26, are due to conclude by May 31. However, tests for a few programmes were set for May 10 and 11, affecting applicants from Jammu and Kashmir who may not be able to attend due to current security restrictions and travel disruptions.
“To provide an opportunity to those students from J&K who have applied but are not able to attend the admission tests scheduled on May 10 and 11, 2025, JMI has decided to conduct the admission tests for them separately,” the statement reads.
The education minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Sakina Itoo expressed gratitude to the university for their consideration. In a post on X, she wrote, “Considering the ongoing situation, Jamia Millia Islamia will reschedule the admission test for students from Jammu and Kashmir at the request of the J&K Government. I thank the university administration for understanding the current challenges faced by the students of J&K.”
