SRINAGAR: The Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) has expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and the Jammu and Kashmir government for responding positively to its request for extending the deadline related to the Unified Building Bye Laws (UBBL).
In a statement, the KCCI acknowledged the government’s prompt attention to its concerns about the short submission period initially announced for proposed amendments to the J&K Unified Building Bye Laws 2021. The Housing and Urban Development Department (H&UDD) has now officially extended the deadline for submitting suggestions from January 18 to February 17, 2025.
The KCCI emphasised that the extension will enable broader public participation and more meaningful engagement from stakeholders in the region. It expressed optimism that the additional time would ensure a comprehensive review of the proposed amendments, making the regulations more inclusive and reflective of public and business interests.
The Chamber also encouraged active public participation in the process and urged stakeholders to submit their suggestions or comments to the Housing and Urban Development Department. The relevant documents are available on the H&UDD website, and submissions can be made via email to principalsecretaryhuddjk@gmail.com, with the subject line “Comments/Suggestions on Proposed Amendments to J&K Unified Building Bye Laws (UBBL)-2021.” Alternatively, submissions can be sent to the Commissioner/Secretary, H&UDD, Civil Secretariat, Srinagar.
KCCI expressed appreciation for the government’s commitment to addressing the concerns of the business community and fostering collaboration for sustainable urban development in Jammu and Kashmir.
