SRINAGAR: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Thursday said that the rise of the ‘Artificial Intelligence Age’ combined with traditional Indian ideals would pave the way for realising the dream of a developed India.

Addressing the inaugural session of the NEP Conclave 2025 in Srinagar, organised by the Higher Education Department, the Lieutenant Governor said that Jammu and Kashmir takes pride in being among the first regions in the country to implement the National Education Policy (NEP) across all higher educational institutions.
“We are building a future-ready academic ecosystem — one that is inclusive, innovative and impactful. Our aim is to empower every student of Jammu and Kashmir to realise their potential, uphold the spirit of Viksit Bharat @2047 and emerge as proud contributors to the nation’s growth story,” Sinha said.
Highlighting the fusion of technology and tradition, Sinha said that the amalgamation of technological advancement and Indian ethos in higher educational institutions would help address future challenges and drive strong economic growth. “The Artificial Intelligence Age and traditional Indian ideals will make the dream of a developed India come true,” he said.
He emphasised that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Jammu and Kashmir is reforming and strengthening its higher education landscape to meet global standards. The NEP, he noted, aims to reduce inequality, expand opportunity, and foster a future-focused learning environment that equips youth with critical thinking and lifelong learning skills.
Sinha said that higher educational institutions in the Union Territory have adopted interdisciplinary and project-based learning, moving away from traditional, siloed approaches to bridge the gap between academia and real-world application. He called for establishing a monitoring mechanism to ensure research projects are innovative, relevant and socially beneficial.
The Lieutenant Governor also urged universities and colleges to implement innovative programmes such as “Design Your Own Degree” in a time-bound manner and to share resources to achieve holistic transformation in the higher education sector.
The event was attended by Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, Vice Chairman of the Higher Education Council Professor Dinesh Singh, Additional Chief Secretary Shantmanu, Vice Chancellors of various universities, senior officials, and faculty members.
