SRINAGAR: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday led a mega anti-drug padyatra in Bandipora town as part of the ongoing “100 Days Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Abhiyaan”, officials said.
The march witnessed significant participation from students, local residents and members of civil society, reflecting broad community engagement in the awareness initiative.
Addressing the gathering, the Lieutenant Governor described young people as the “true builders of the nation” and urged them to steer clear of substance abuse, calling for collective responsibility in addressing the drug menace.
Officials said his participation at the district-level event was intended to strengthen public involvement and reinforce the administration’s anti-narcotics campaign at the grassroots level.
Speakers at the event highlighted the increasing challenge of drug abuse in the region and stressed the need for sustained community participation to eradicate the problem.
The “Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyaan” is being implemented across all districts with coordinated efforts from police, educational institutions and local communities as part of a 100-day awareness drive.
Officials reiterated that youth engagement remains central to building a drug-free society and urged students to focus on education and constructive development.
The Bandipora padyatra forms part of the broader grassroots movement aimed at raising awareness against substance abuse and strengthening rehabilitation efforts across the Union Territory.
