SRINAGAR: The Meteorological Centre Srinagar has warned of possible flash floods, mudslides and landslides in vulnerable areas of Jammu and Kashmir, with brief spells of intense rainfall forecast at isolated places, particularly in the Jammu division, over the coming days.
The weather is expected to remain generally hot and humid across Jammu and Kashmir, although intermittent rain and thundershowers are likely at scattered to many places.
On August 22, brief spells of intense and heavy rain are likely at isolated locations, particularly in a few districts of the Jammu division, mainly during the early morning and afternoon hours.
From August 23 to 28, the weather is expected to remain largely hot and humid, with brief spells of rain and thundershowers likely at scattered places, mainly during the early morning and afternoon.
The MeT has forecast a further spell of light to moderate rain and thundershowers at scattered to many places from August 29 to 31. Brief intense showers are also likely during this period, particularly in the Jammu division.
The weather department said localised heavy rainfall could trigger flash floods, mudslides and landslides in vulnerable areas and advised people to exercise caution during periods of intense rainfall.
Farmers have been advised that harvesting and other agricultural operations may continue in accordance with local weather conditions.
