SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Government has said that its flagship Mission YUVA initiative has achieved a major milestone, with J&K Bank sanctioning loans to 10,000 eligible young beneficiaries for setting up their own business ventures. The development marks a significant push towards entrepreneurship and economic self-reliance across the Union Territory.
Working in close coordination with the administration, the Bank has been central to translating the Mission YUVA vision into real economic opportunities on the ground. The latest achievement underscores the institution’s role in promoting a new entrepreneurial culture in which young men and women are encouraged to become job creators rather than job seekers.
Expressing satisfaction over the accomplishment, MD and CEO Amitava Chatterjee said that empowering ten thousand young entrepreneurs reflects the Bank’s deep commitment to self-reliance and inclusive growth in Jammu and Kashmir. “This milestone is not just about numbers; it represents the spirit of our youth taking charge of their future with confidence and purpose,” he said. He added that the Bank remains firmly supportive of the government’s transformative initiative, which he said is strengthening the region’s socio-economic fabric.
Chatterjee also commended the contribution of staff across districts, noting that their ground-level efforts had ensured timely access to finance and guidance for aspiring entrepreneurs. Their dedication, he said, continues to make the Bank a trusted partner in the success stories of young people across the Union Territory.
Mission YUVA is designed to motivate and equip young individuals to establish their own ventures through financial support, capacity-building, and sustained mentoring at the grassroots.
