Srinagar

Authorities on Wednesday suspended Internet services in parts of Islamabad and Kulgam in South Kashmir following the gunfight between the government forces and militants at Bunpora Muniward in Islamabad.

Local sources said that internet services were snapped in some areas of Islamabad and Kulgam district soon after the encounter broke out in the area.

Earlier, a joint team of army’s 1st RR, SOG and CRPF laid a siege at Bunpora, around 5:00 am. Soon after the joint team of forces launched the cordon in the area, a massive blast occurred followed by intense firing.

When reports last came in, the intermittent exchange of firing was going on.
