Wani’s remarks came amid reports of differences within the party involving Srinagar MP Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi.

“Our politics is guided by the party’s ideology, discipline and collective vision, not by individual opinions. No individual is bigger than the party,” Wani said.

He said the National Conference’s political positions are determined through the party’s established principles and organisational framework rather than the views of any individual leader.

“We are guided by the discipline of our party, the views of our party and the foresight of our party. We stand on the platform given to us by Sher-e-Kashmir, and we will continue to follow his principles and those of the National Conference,” he said.

Referring to Ruhullah, Wani said the Srinagar MP appeared upset but maintained that party members were expected to function within the framework of the organisation.

“Mr Ruhullah is upset. On one hand, he says the party has done the right thing, and on the other there is anger. You should ask him what exactly his views are,” Wani said.

He stressed that political organisations operate through collective decision-making rather than individual viewpoints.

“A system does not function on the thoughts of an individual. Individuals have to work within the framework of the system and act according to its principles,” he said.

Wani also referred to National Conference president Farooq Abdullah while emphasising the importance of collective leadership.

“Even Dr Farooq Abdullah says he is nothing as an individual and that the National Conference is supreme. We have learnt to follow the policy and ideology of the organisation,” he said. (KNS)
