SRINAGAR: The government on Wednesday said that no funds were allocated under the Special Area Development Programme (SADP) to address the infrastructure deficit in Srinagar district for the financial years 2023-24 and 2024-25.
Responding to a query from Congress MLA Tariq Hameed Karra, the concerned minister said that until 2019-20, Rs 3,500 lakh was provided annually under the SADP to improve infrastructure in Srinagar, particularly in the sectors of health, education, public health engineering, and road connectivity.
The minister added that in 2021-22 and 2022-23, funds were allocated under the scheme to clear pending liabilities projected by the district.
“However, for 2023-24 and 2024-25, no funds were allocated as no such demands were received from the district,” he said.
“The release of funds is determined based on a need assessment of additional requirements for Srinagar district to bridge any infrastructure gaps,” he added. (KNO)
