Valley’s apex trade body, Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industries (KCC&I) on Thursday expressed its resentment that how non-state organizations have been allowed to plead and represent matters of trade and commerce concerning J&K with countries like USA sans taking them on board.
Expressing its grave concern and reservation on how the peripheral and non-state subject organizations like Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in connivance with any non-entity could be allowed to ignore the importance of the role of the KCC&I and other State based organizations in such activities, the KCC&I impressed upon the concerned authorities to ensure that the Kashmir cause of trade and commerce is dealt with caution.
KCCI also pleaded that such trading initiatives with other countries should be taken only after taking into consideration the view point and presence of the oldest Apex trade organization of Kashmir viz the KCC&I and also other State based organizations.
While questioning the level of understanding and knowledge of the CII with regard to issues facing the Kashmir trade and commerce and a befitting resolution thereof, “In past also attempts were made to address the issues without taking the apex trade organization viz KCC&I on board but all such packages and pacts proved a mirage as the promised benefits of such packages never trickled down to the people of Kashmir,” said sitting President KCCI, Abdul Hamid Punjabi.
