The entry of visitors to the Centaur Lake View Hotel, where over 30 politicians and former ministers are detained since August 5 has been restricted, The Tribune reported.

As per the new directives, only close relatives of the detainees will be allowed to meet the leaders twice a week in the Centaur View Lake Hotel – which was declared a subsidiary jail by the government, said the report.

“The entry to the sub-jail has been restricted. Now, only blood relatives will be allowed to meet the detained political leaders at the Centaur Hotel,” The Tribune quoted an official as having said. They don’t have to seek any specific permission but if political workers want to meet any of the detained leaders, he/she will have to first take the District Magistrate’s nod and specify the reasons for the meeting.

“The relatives can visit the hotel and meet the leaders on Wednesdays and Saturdays between 10 am to 2 pm,” he said.

Earlier, scores of the relatives and political workers could be seen waiting outside the hotel on the main roads daily. However, to regulate the visits to the detained leaders and minimise the rush, the authorities have limited the entry inside the sub-jail only for the blood relations only.

Sources disclosed that close relatives — specifically including wife, brother, sister, mother, father, mother-in-law, father-in-law, son or daughter — are allowed to meet the detained leaders only in the lobby area of the hotel. “They are not allowed inside the rooms. Besides, they are not allowed to bring in eatables along,” The Tribune quoted sources as having said.
