SRINAGAR: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday directed departments and district administrations to remove bottlenecks and ensure that work on stalled and new mini-secretariat projects across Jammu and Kashmir begins within one month, while taking serious note of delays in their execution.
Omar issued the directions while chairing a meeting at the Civil Secretariat to review the progress of languishing projects under the Revenue Department, with particular focus on the construction of mini-secretariat buildings at district headquarters.
The Chief Minister expressed displeasure over the slow pace of work on ongoing projects as well as delays in project planning, obtaining necessary approvals and commencement of construction of new buildings.
The meeting reviewed the status of mini-secretariat projects at Mendhar, Poonch, Rajouri and Akhnoor in Jammu division, and Tral, Dooru, Batamaloo and Tangmarg in Kashmir division.
Omar directed the concerned departments and district administrations to take all necessary measures to resolve bottlenecks and ensure time-bound execution of the projects.
He stressed that the directions issued during the meeting should be strictly complied with and called for greater coordination among the departments concerned to prevent further delays.
The Chief Minister also directed the Revenue Department to take the lead in granting necessary approvals and allocating funds for the projects.
He further called for standardisation of works and facilities across all mini-secretariats, saying the administrative complexes should have uniformity in design and functionality and provide improved services and facilities to both staff and the public.
The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, Financial Commissioner Revenue J&K Shaleen Kabra, Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister Dheeraj Gupta, Additional Chief Secretary Finance Shailendra Kumar, Secretary Revenue, Divisional Commissioners of Jammu and Kashmir, and Deputy Commissioners of Pulwama, Rajouri, Poonch, Baramulla and Srinagar, among other senior officers.
The officers from outside Srinagar attended the meeting through video conferencing.
