SRINAGAR: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday attended a high-level security meeting chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah and praised the Indian Armed Forces’ tri-services missile strikes, dubbed “Operation Sindoor”, targeting nine militant camps in Pakistan.
Describing the strikes as a “remarkable example of the resolve of our brave armed forces,” the Lieutenant Governor said the operation had avenged the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam that left 26 civilians dead. “No matter where terrorists are hiding, our forces will find them and punish them for their heinous crimes,” LG Sinha said during a security review at Raj Bhavan, Srinagar.
The meeting, held virtually and attended by top security and administrative officials including Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo and DGP Nalin Prabhat, came just hours after India launched 24 precision missile strikes in response to the Pahalgam massacre, carried out by Pakistan-backed terrorists.
According to LG Sinha, training camps operated by groups such as Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed, responsible for decades of bloodshed in India, were “completely destroyed” in the operation.
Following the meeting, the Lieutenant Governor directed officials to implement the Union Home Minister’s instructions in letter and spirit and take proactive measures to neutralise any potential threats.
Sinha said the administration is fully prepared to handle any exigency, particularly in the border districts. He instructed Deputy Commissioners to shift villagers from vulnerable areas to safer locations and ensure provision of essentials including food, shelter, medical care and transportation.
“We are alert, equipped and fully prepared to respond to any situation. The entire administration, police, CAPFs, and armed forces are working together,” he said, reaffirming the government’s zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism.
Earlier in the day, the LG held a detailed review with senior civil, police and district officials, including Deputy Commissioners of border districts, to assess preparedness on the ground.
