Around six mild snow avalanches and landslides were triggered by incessant rains in upper reaches of Gund tehsil in Ganderbal district early Saturday morning. It triggered panic in the area.
Witnesses said that people ran for safer places after land started caving-in at several places in Gagangeer, Rayil and Ganiwan areas.
However, there was no report of loss of life or property.
The district administration has appealed the residents living in avalanche-prone areas to stay indoors.
“There is no need to panic but people living in avalanche-prone areas should stay indoors as a precaution,” officials of the district administration said.
