SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police have issued a public advisory following an avalanche warning for the higher reaches of Ganderbal district and have set up dedicated helpline numbers to provide immediate assistance in case of emergencies.
In a statement, police urged residents, tourists and commuters to avoid unnecessary travel to higher altitudes and avalanche-prone areas until weather conditions improve and the advisory is formally withdrawn by the competent authorities. The public has been asked to strictly follow the guidelines issued by the administration to safeguard life and property.
In the event of an emergency, people have been advised to contact Ganderbal Police through ERSS by dialling 112 or via the Police Control Room (PCR) Ganderbal on 9906668731, 9419371774, 9541786731, 0194-2416478 and 0194-2416564.
Police have appealed for public cooperation to ensure safety and prevent any untoward incidents.
