SRINAGAR: President Droupadi Murmu on Friday hailed Operation Sindoor as a “golden chapter” in humanity’s fight against terrorism, crediting public sector undertakings (PSUs) for their role in developing the indigenous Akashteer Air Defence Control and Reporting System, which proved crucial during military conflict with Pakistan.
Speaking at the SCOPE Eminence Awards in New Delhi, as per NDTV, Murmu emphasised that PSUs have emerged as “catalysts of growth and pillars of prosperity”, significantly contributing to India’s defence preparedness, national self-reliance, and the vision of a developed India by 2047. She noted that three-fourths of PSUs are profit-making, with net profits showing substantial growth over the past decade.
Highlighting their achievements in good governance, transparency and innovation, the President said PSUs have set benchmarks in nation-building while supporting key initiatives such as *Atma Nirbhar Bharat* and *Make in India*. She stressed that their contributions extend beyond defence to agriculture, mining, manufacturing, processing and services.
Murmu underlined the importance of women-led development as a national priority, acknowledging the challenges women leaders face while affirming their crucial role in India’s progress.
