SRINAGAR: The Kashmir Valley witnessed a moderate spell of rain, with a brief transition to snowfall in some plains during the evening hours yesterday. Meanwhile, Jammu region experienced moderate to heavy rainfall, with snowfall reported in parts of the Chenab Valley. The intensity of precipitation remained higher in Jammu compared to the Kashmir Valley.

According to recorded data, Kokernag received the highest rainfall in Kashmir at 27.2 mm, accompanied by 2 cm of snow. Pahalgam and Qazigund recorded 14.6 mm and 14.2 mm of rainfall, respectively. Gulmarg saw 7.8 mm of rain along with 7 cm of snow. In Jammu, Batote received the highest precipitation at 48.1 mm, followed by Banihal at 38.9 mm with 15 cm of snow. Bhaderwah recorded 41 mm of rain, with 9 cm of snowfall, while Jammu city saw 27.4 mm of rainfall.
Weather conditions are expected to remain dry across Jammu and Kashmir from today until February 24. However, a moderate-intensity Western Disturbance is likely to impact the region around February 26, potentially bringing another spell of rain and snowfall. (Kashmir Weather)
