SRINAGAR: Amidst an ongoing intense heat wave, the Meteorological Centre Srinagar has forecasted a spell of rain and thundershowers across various parts of the Kashmir division in the next three hours. This prediction comes as a relief for residents who have been enduring high temperatures.
A Met official stated, “Generally cloudy conditions with a spell of rain and thundershowers are expected over many parts of Kashmir Division, including Gulmarg, Tangmarg, Baramulla, Doodh Pathri, Khan Sahab, and adjoining areas of Budgam. Many parts of south Kashmir, such as Pulwama, Shopian, Qazigund, Anantnag, and adjacent regions, as well as a few parts of Srinagar and Ganderbal districts, will also experience this weather in the next three hours.”
The official added that some places in the Kashmir division might experience intense showers briefly. This change in weather is expected to bring much-needed relief from the soaring temperatures.
Looking ahead, the weather across Jammu and Kashmir on July 29 is predicted to be generally cloudy, with intermittent spells of light to moderate rain or thundershowers. This pattern will affect many areas in the Kashmir Division and most places in the Jammu Division.
From July 30 to 31, the region will continue to experience generally cloudy weather, with intermittent light to moderate rain or thundershowers occurring at many locations in the Kashmir Division and widespread areas in the Jammu Division.
The forecast for August 1 to 7 indicates continued general cloudiness, with intermittent light to moderate rain or thundershowers expected at many places in the Kashmir Division and most locations in the Jammu Division. However, intense showers during brief periods could lead to flash floods, cloudbursts, landslides, mudslides, and shooting stones in vulnerable areas of Jammu and Kashmir.
The MeT department has also warned of the possibility of heavy rainfall at a few locations in the Jammu Division, which could exacerbate the risk of natural calamities.
Residents are advised to stay updated with the latest weather forecasts and take necessary precautions, especially in areas prone to flash floods and landslides.
