The State Vigilance Commission while reviewing progress in investigation of cases bearing public importance, directed the Vigilance Organisation that investigation in such cases be concluded on merits in a time bound manner.
In a case registered in Police Station Vigilance Organization Jammu, pertaining to irregularities committed in transfer of State Land under the Roshni Act, it transpired during verification that undue benefits have been conferred by officers/officials of Revenue Department, Samba, to illegal occupants of the Stand Land while settling their cases for vesting of ownership rights over State Land under the Roshni Act.
“Besides, in many cases ownership rights over the State Land were conferred in favour of individuals, who were not actually having the recorded possessions in their respective names, in violation of the enactment and rules framed there under,” the SVC said in a statement.
Further, while making transfer of land under the Roshni Act, neither rates were fixed by the “Price Fixation Committee” nor the lump sum amount received remitted in the Government Treasury, which reveals the mala-fide and dishonest intentions on the part of Revenue Officers/Officials of District Samba, thereby extending undue benefits to illegal occupants and to themselves in connivance and conspiracy with each other by misuse of official positions by the concerned public servants, the statement said.
“The State Vigilance Commission, in order to ensure speedy conclusion of this important case, has directed the Vigilance Organization to make sure that the investigation be completed in a time bound manner. The Dy. Commissioner Samba, has been directed to provide all records and information required for investigation of the case forthwith, so that investigation is taken to its logical conclusion. On the next date of hearing the Vigilance Organisation will submit status report for further directions of the Commission.”
