SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir People’s Conference President Sajad Lone criticised Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s speech at the digital inauguration of the Rail to Srinagar.
In a post on X, Lone wrote, “If facelessness had a voice, the speech of our CM at the digital inaugural ceremony of the Rail to Srinagar comes to mind. If facelessness had a face, our Chief Minister’s face comes to mind.”
If facelessness had a face, our Chief Minister’s face comes to my mind.
If facelessness had a voice the speech of our CM at the digital inaugural ceremony of the Rail to Srinagar comes to my mind.

He accused the CM of inconsistency, pointing out that Abdullah had often criticised the BJP in interviews, accusing the party of inaction and highlighting issues such as highways. Lone noted the CM’s recent praise for the BJP Prime Minister during the ceremony, calling it a “fixed match.”
Lone alleged that during the election period, the BJP’s attacks on the CM were meant to make him appear credible to Kashmiri voters. He questioned the maturity of voters and the extent of BJP influence in determining voter choices.
He also criticised intellectuals and opinion-makers for supporting a narrative that allowed the CM to dominate political discourse by portraying his rivals as BJP allies. Lone claimed this created an unfair political environment.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Jan 6 expressed gratitude to PM Narendra Modi during the inauguration of the new Rail Division of Jammu at the Jammu-Tawi Railway Station.
“For years, our rail division was managed from Firozpur because rail connectivity did not extend to Jammu and Kashmir. Over time, however, the rail network steadily expanded—from Pathankot to Jammu, then to Udhampur, Katra, and Kashmir. Today, we see a growing rail network connecting Srinagar to Baramulla, Anantnag, Banihal, and now Sangaldan. The recent trial run of the train between Srinagar and Katra is a promising sign of progress, and we look forward to the completion of this connectivity under the leadership of the Prime Minister,” the Chief Minister said.
Referring to the significance of the new connectivity, Chief Minister Abdullah remarked, “We recently received the good news that a trial train is being run from Srinagar to Katra. It is hoped that it will become fully operational soon, benefiting the people of Jammu and Kashmir immensely.”
