SRINAGAR: Minister Satish Sharma on Thursday said he hopes Kashmiri Pandits will return to the Valley, while acknowledging that the matter is not entirely within his authority. He expressed a sincere desire to see their dignified rehabilitation in Kashmir.
Speaking to reporters, Sharma reiterated that he wants Kashmiri Pandits to come back but noted that the issue goes beyond his direct control.
“I truly want them to return. We will not allow Pakistan’s malicious designs to succeed. Our aim is to keep the country united,” he said.
The minister added that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, efforts must continue to strengthen the nation and build a stronger Jammu and Kashmir.
He emphasised that achieving this goal would require collective commitment, dedication and unity from all sections of society.
Sharma said the government is working for the welfare of the people and is considering measures to address the concerns of daily wage earners in the future. He also stated that unemployment and drug abuse are two major issues facing Jammu and Kashmir. “We do not want the future of our children to be destroyed,” he added.
