SRINAGAR: As Kashmir continues to battle heavy snowfall, authorities across the region are working tirelessly to restore normalcy.
In Srinagar, over 40 snow clearance machines have been deployed across various wards, with manual efforts underway to clear over 2,000 lanes in internal colonies.
Dr Owais Ahmad, Commissioner of the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC), assured the public that snow clearance operations are being carried out in phases, with priority roads, including those leading to hospitals, cleared overnight. Ground staff, equipped to handle the situation, have been working since early morning, ensuring access to all areas.
In Baramulla, major roads, including the Tangmarg-Gulmarg route, have been cleared, and snow clearance is progressing on other link roads. The district has seen significant progress in power restoration, with 80 percent of 11KV feeders restored, and water supply has remained uninterrupted.
In Pulwama, more than 60 percent of roads have been cleared, with ongoing efforts to restore power and maintain water supply, officials said.
The district’s administration has prioritised clearing roads to essential installations, and a winter helpline has been established for emergencies.
