SRINAGAR: There was a slight respite from cold wave conditions in Kashmir as the minimum temperature rose marginally across several places in the Valley on Monday after fresh snowfall.
Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, registered 1.5 degrees Celsius as compared to minus 3.0 degree Celsius the previous night temperature, which was recorded as the season’s coldest night, an official of the MeT Department here said.
The famous tourist resort Pahalgam which serves as the base camp for the annual Amarnath yatra during summer recorded low of 0.3 degree Celsius as the minimum temperature.
Gulmarg famous ski-resort in north Kashmir recorded a low of minus 4.5 degree Celsius as against the previous night’s minus 7.4 degree Celsius as it also received 10 cm snowfall.
The mercury in Kupwara town in north Kashmir settled at minus 0.2 degree Celsius after receiving 1 cm snowfall and showed an increase of over 3.6 degree Celsius against minus 3.4 degrees Celsius of the previous night, he said.
Qazigund in south Kashmir registered the minimum of 2.0 degree Celsius whereas previous night’s temperature was recorded minus 2.6 degree Celsius while Anantnag recorded a minimum temperature of 0.4 degree Celsius against minus 5.6 degree Celsius of the previous night.
Jammu recorded a minimum temperature of 11.7 degree Celsius whereas previous night’s temperature was recorded as 7.2 degree Celsius while Banihal recorded a minimum temperature of 3.4 degree Celsius whereas previous night’s temperature was recorded 1.0 degree Celsius.
Batote recorded a minimum temperature of 3.6 degree Celsius whereas previous night’s temperature was recorded 2.3 degree Celsius.
Katra recorded a minimum temperature of 11.2 degree Celsius whereas previous night’s temperature was recorded 7.0 degree Celsius while Bhaderwah recorded a minimum temperature of 2.8 degree Celsius whereas previous night’s temperature was recorded 0.2 degree Celsius.
