Uttar Pradesh police Friday claimed that it arrested a Kashmiri youth who is an suspected Hizbul Mujahideen militant. They claimed that they have unearthed a plot to create terror in the city ahead of Holi and are looking out for more operatives who might have sneaked in.

The alleged operative Liaqat Ali Shah, who hails from Kupwara in Jammu and Kashmir, was on way to Delhi in a train when he was arrested from Gorakhpur Railway Station, police sources said. Liaqat was in fact arrested by Delhi police on way from UP.

He was produced in a court on Thursday which sent him to police custody for 15 days.

Sources claimed that he told the police that some weapons were kept for him in a guest house in the Jama Masjid area in Central Delhi. Police said that a raid was conducted and an AK47 and ammunition were recovered.

Police are on the lookout for more operatives who might have sneaked into the city.
