Temperature Drops in Srinagar to 29.8°C, Rains in Offing

   

SRINAGAR: Srinagar recorded a maximum temperature of 29.8 degrees Celsius on Wednesday, while the weatherman here has again predicted the possibility of flash floods amidst the forecast of moderate rainfall till 17th July.

Qazigund, the gateway of Kashmir, recorded 28.4 degrees Celsius, while Kupwara recorded a maximum temperature of 29.8 degrees Celsius.

Kokernag recorded a maximum temperature of 28.5 degrees Celsius, while the mercury settled at 25.7 degrees Celsius in Pahalgam, a famous tourist destination.

Jammu City, however, recorded 33.3 degrees Celsius, while Banihal recorded a temperature of 29.0 degrees Celsius.

Batote and Katra recorded maximum temperatures of 28.1 degrees Celsius and 29.1 degrees Celsius.

Director of the Meteorological Department, Dr Mukhtar Ahmad, said that there is a possibility of a spell of rain and thundershower at many places in the Jammu division and scattered places in the Kashmir division tomorrow.

From July 12 to July 13, a spell of light to moderate rain and thundershower is expected at scattered to fairly widespread places, with heavy rain at isolated places in the Jammu division on 12th July.

On July 14 and 15, a brief spell of rain and thundershower is expected at scattered places, while on July 16 and 17, a brief spell of rain and thundershower is expected at isolated places.

In its advisory, the MeT said that flash floods, landslides, mudslides, and shooting stones are expected at a few vulnerable places from July 11 to July 13.

It added that a few low-lying areas may experience temporary water logging conditions in the Jammu division—(KNO).
