SRINAGAR: US President Donald Trump reiterated his long-standing claim that he personally intervened to halt hostilities between India and Pakistan, asserting that the nuclear-armed neighbours “were going at it” before he resolved the situation, according to Reuters report.

Speaking at an economy-focused rally in Mount Pocono, Pennsylvania, as per ABC News Trump told supporters: “In 10 months, I ended eight wars, including Kosovo (and) Serbia, Pakistan and India, they were going at it. Israel and Iran, Egypt and Ethiopia… Armenia and Azerbaijan.” The comments marked nearly the 70th time he has repeated the assertion.
India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7, against terror sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir after the April 22, Pahalgam attack that killed 26 civilians. The two sides halted four days of drone and missile exchanges on 10 May, with New Delhi consistently rejecting any suggestion of third-party mediation.
Trump also claimed Cambodia and Thailand had resumed fighting, saying he would intervene with a phone call on Wednesday. “Who else could say I’m going to make a phone call and stop a war of two very powerful countries, Thailand and Cambodia. They are going at it,” he said. “So we’re making peace through strength. That’s what we’re doing.”
